T1 Xstream Internet Access

What is T1 Xstream?

T1 Xstream is a service that bonds multiple Internet access services provided by Skyway or other providers. For example, a DSL service, a wireless service and cable service.

T1 Xstream increases your download and upload speeds by combining multiple Internet services into a single connection. Increase your download speed to 8 Mbps by combining two 3 Mbps ADSL2+ services and a 2 Mbps wireless service. Increase your upload speed to 4 Mbps by combining two 1 Mbps ADSL2+ services and a 2 Mbps wireless service.

In addition to aggregating Internet traffic, T1 Xstream may also use compression to typically double the download and upload speeds of the preceding uncompressed data to 16 Mbps and 8 Mbps, respectively.

Actual speeds will vary due to overhead and the amount of latency on each connection.

What equipment do I require?

Skyway supplies a T1 Xstream Aggregator that connects to the router/modem supplied by your Internet provider(s). The Aggregator has an 100 Mbps ethernet port for connection to your firewall or local area network. In some instances, an 100 Mbps switch is required between the Aggregator and your firewall.

The T1 Xstream aggregator at your location connects your multiple Internet connections to a T1 Xstream Aggregation Concentrator located at Skyway's network operation centre. The Aggregation Concentrator passes the aggegated traffic to/from the Internet or to/from locations served by Skyway.

Does T1 Xstream provide inbound/outbound fail over?

Yes, T1 Xstream provides inbound/outbound fail over. T1 Xstream combines up to three different Internet connections into a singe connection sharing the same IP space. If one Internet connection fails, the remaining connection(s) continue using the shared IP addresses. If you have three connections, two can fail without loss of service. Inbound and outbound traffic continue as they were.

Do I loose VoIP calls or terminal connections when T1 Xstream fails over?

No, VoIP calls or terminal connections do NOT drop when an Internet connection fails. People using VoIP will loose a moment of communication but their VoIP call will not disconnect. People using a terminal or citrix connection will notice a short delay but they will not have to reconnect afterward.

IP Quality of Service (IPQoS)

T1 Xstream can be configured to provide bi-directional IPQoS between your location and the T1 Aggregation Concentrator located at Skyway's network operation centre. Bi-directional IPQoS manages Internet connections from different suppliers to allow inbound and outbound ISQoS. We can also provide bi-directional IPQoS between different T1 Xstream services.

IPQoS increases overall performance and reliability for mission critical applications such as voice, video and data. T1 Xstream supports Priority Queuing using IP Precedence, IPToS, DSCP and Custom Classification methods.

For example, when there is insufficient bandwidth over an outbound connection, Priority Queuing will send the packet containing the highest priority queue first and then send the next priority packets. VoIP Packets can be assigned the "High" priority.

Managed Virtual Private networks

The T1 Xstream Aggregator can be configured to terminate IPSEC VPN connections eliminating the need for a separate firewall. Skyway manages and monitors the VPN connections.

The Aggregator also has a built in PPTP VPN server which can be configured to slave off a customer's radius or active directory server. Ths allows a roaming user to connect their laptop to the office by pointing to the local aggregator without changing their PPTP login and password.

Level Agreement (SLA)

Skyway guarantees T1 Xstream customers using multiple Internet technoliges 99.999% uninterrupted transit to the Internet. If transit to the Internet becomes unavailable, Skyway will refund the customer an amount equal to one day of the customer's pro-rated recurring monthly T1 Xstream charges during the month the interruption took place.

If transit to the Internet is unavailable for a cumulative period exceeding one hour, the customer will receive an additional refund of one day of the pro-rated recurring monthly charges for each additional hour, or portion thereof, of transit unavailability. All refund calculations will be based on unavailability in one-hour increments.

This SLA does not cover outages caused by equipment and/or events not under the direct control of Skyway or caused by individuals not directly employed by Skyway. It excludes short periods of temporary service degradation, such as slow data transmissions. It does not cover outages due to scheduled or emergency network and/or facility maintenance by Skyway, which will be broadcast to all customers in advance.

Any and all refunds to a customer will not exceed 50% of the customer's recurring monthly charges for the month in which the refund is paid.
