AnyIP MetaLAN Virtual Private Networks
Skyway West's AnyIP MetaLAN Virtual Private Network service allows British Columbia (BC) and Alberta (AB) ADSL and Fibre customers to connect multiple sites in a secure fashion without purchasing a separate VPN firewall for each location. The service is achieved by assigning the sites private IP addresses behind Skyway's Wide Area Network (WAN) firewall.
Our AnyIP MetaLAN VPN service is more efficient than using a firewall at each location because it eliminates delays from encrypting interoffice traffic and eliminates the traffic that encryption adds (i.e., 30%). The $30/month charge per site is inexpensive when compared to the benefit of improved performance and savings from eliminating multiple firewalls and unecessary traffic.
AnyIP MetaLAN VPN service is available to all sites that use Skyway's ADSL or fibre services in British Columbia (BC) and Alberta (AB). The service can be configured in several ways. For example:
A. AnyIP MetaLAN VPN sites can only reach other AnyIP MetaLAN VPN sites. They cannot reach the Internet and the Internet cannot reach them,
B. AnyIP MetaLAN VPN sites can also reach the Internet but the Internet cannot reach them,
C. One or more static IP address can be routed through Skyway's WAN firewall to a specific server at one of the AnyIP MetaLAN VPN sites. This allows the site to host a server (e.g., mail, web, etc.) accessible from outside the MetaLAN.
We can also arrange for sites served by other ISP's to securely connect into your AnyIP MetaLAN VPN. This service does use encryption.
This product also meets the needs of single locations wanting to protect their network from the Internet but not wanting to purchase and manage a firewall.
Our AnyIP MetaLAN VPN service is similar to our Dedicated Private Virtual Circuit (PVC) service. The key differences are that the latter uses dedicated PVC's and has the option to add point to point PVC's.
