About Virus Protection
Skyway West offers E-mail virus protection using software from Trend Micro http://www.trendmicro.com/ to detect and eliminate viruses before they enter your network. Trend Micro is an industry leader in virus research and solutions to ensure viruses are identified as early as possible and solutions posted as quickly as possible.
Incoming E-mail
The software scans ALL inbound E-mail addressed to E-mailboxes @yourdomain.com and if it finds a problem, attempts to clean the E-mail and forward it to the recipient. If the anti-virus scanner cannot clean the virus, it will delete the attachment. Either way, the anti-virus scanner will notify the recipient that a virus was detected.
Outbound SMTP Relay [underway]
The software scans ALL E-mail originating from customers using Skyway West's outbound SMTP relay service. After cleaning or deleting the virus, the anti-virus scanner advises the sender and recipient that a virus was detected. The anti-virus scanner prevents your company or your employees spreading an infection to colleagues, suppliers, friends and family.

FREE SpamAssassin
Our virus protection service includes the option to use SpamAssassin for FREE instead of our normal charge of $20/month/domain. (SpamAssassin is also free for customers using our Virtual Web Services.) SpamAssassin scans ALL your email and when it finds potential SPAM, prepends "*****SPAM*****" to the subject line allowing your mail client to filter *****SPAM***** to a specific mailbox. The main advantages of SpamAssassin are that it captures a higher percentage of spam than other measures and does not reject potential spam. - Do I receive notice of new viruses?
Yes, you will be sent notice of new viruses. The notice is for information only and you do not need to take any action. - Will scanning my E-mail delay it?
Yes, the virus scanner delays E-mail by under five seconds. - What if some E-mail accounts using our domain (e.g., @yourdomain.com) need virus protection and others do not?
Virus protection is available on a domain wide basis and not by individual E-mail account. - Can my @skywaywest.com E-mail address have virus protection?
No, @skywaywest.com E-mail is hosted on the mail server that does not offer virus protection. We can provide virus protection if you are willing to change your E-mail address to @sohoskyway.com. - Does the virus scanner change the E-mail in any other way?
No, it does not change the text of the message.
