Block Spam Sources

There are many volunteers on the Internet that compile lists of known spam sources and make them available via a mechanism known as a DNSbl - or DNS-based blocking list

The DNSbl mechanism has been popular for many years. Most popular mail server software offers mechanisms to test specified DNSbls before accepting E-mail.

As well, there are tools to check these lists that are usable by end-users (from within Procmail recipes, for example).

If you administer your E-mail server, you should consider testing mail servers that connect to you against the more popular blocking lists, and refuse connections from any IP address found on any of the lists. The best of these lists is:
